Undergraduate (BA) study

The double-major Phonetics programme is designed primarily for students of languages who are interested in their sound patterns. The programme provides the basis for the follow-up magisterial programme, but also a minimum necessary for application in real-life practice.

Major study areas include speech production and perception, systematic description of the sound patterns of a language at the segmental and suprasegmental level, problems pertaining to spoken communication, phonetic methodology and statistical analysis.

Major study areas include:

  • essential knowledge about speech production and perception
  • practical experience with auditory and acoustic analysis of speech
  • theoretical and practical orientation in problems related to speech communication
  • knowledge of current research methods
