The double-major Phonetics programme is designed primarily for students of languages who are interested in their sound patterns. The programme provides the basis for the follow-up magisterial programme, but also a minimum necessary for application in real-life practice.
Major study areas include speech production and perception, systematic description of the sound patterns of a language at the segmental and suprasegmental level, problems pertaining to spoken communication, phonetic methodology and statistical analysis.
