Research interests

My research focuses on speech in speakers with speech impairments, especially motor speech disorders, and in those speaking a foreign language. I am particularly interested in a speech production system that results in incorrect articulations, and the ways to improve such output. In my work I am using real-time ultrasound tongue imaging to observe tongue movements during speech and to provide visual feedback in the remediation of speech sounds. I am further interested in the relationship between speech production and perception, specifically how changes in one domain influence the other.
